The 1992 Atlanta 300 was a Busch Series event held at Atlanta Motor Speedway on March 14, 1992. Jeff Gordon won more than his first NASCAR race this day. He won a job. Rick Hendrick would later remark that watching Gordon's #1 Baby Ruth Ford, he promised Gordon would wreck any lap. But Gordon held off Harry Gant for the win, a win that impressed Hendrick enough to offer him a job later. Gordon, meanwhile, was also 13 points back of Kenny Wallace (12th) for the points lead.
