The first recipients of the treatment became the members of the Luthor's own super-hero team, the new Infinity, Inc.. John Henry Irons was granted powers through the process against his wishes. Luthor also had the ability to strip the powers away from those he had granted them to. Some time after the dissolution of the Everyman Project, the former members of Luthor's Infinity Inc developed bizarre powers stemming from their original Everyman Project powers.

abstract
  • The Everyman Project was a project initiated by Lex Luthor. Its goal was to grant super-powers to non-metahumans. The first recipients of the treatment became the members of the Luthor's own super-hero team, the new Infinity, Inc.. John Henry Irons was granted powers through the process against his wishes. Luthor also had the ability to strip the powers away from those he had granted them to. At the start of the project Luthor was led to believe that he was incompatible with the Everyman Exo-Gene treatment. This was later proven to be a deception by a member of the project's staff who apparently feared Lex Luthor gaining the powers and abilities of Superman. In a fit of childishness over the supposed incompatibility of the Everyman genes and his own DNA, Luthor killed many of the Everyman Project subjects by deactivating their powers in mid-air on New Year's Eve with an electro-magnetic signal. Steel led a group of heroes to rescue his niece from the Everyman Project and Luthor. His niece Natasha Irons was the one who found a way to generate the signal Luthor had previously used to depower the Everyman subjects and take away Luthor's Superman powers. Some time after the dissolution of the Everyman Project, the former members of Luthor's Infinity Inc developed bizarre powers stemming from their original Everyman Project powers. The project was shown to grant the following abilities (not all in one person): * Steel skin * Super-Strength * Magnetism * Plant Control/Manipulation * Shapeshifting * Flight * Energy Projection * Spike Growth (ala Human Porcupine) * Invisibility * Super-Senses * Size Control * Invulnerability * Light Manipulation Note: This list does not list all of the abilities granted by the Everyman project.
