Might and Magic Online was to be a MMORPG set in the Might and Magic universe. It was intended to act as the sequel to Might and Magic V: Darkside of Xeen, but that role was later taken by Might and Magic VI: The Mandate of Heaven. Details on the content of the game itself are extremely scarce, but some developers who worked on 3DO's Meridian 59 (which was to serve as the game's basis) list Might and Magic Online in their resumes and websites.

abstract
  • Might and Magic Online was to be a MMORPG set in the Might and Magic universe. It was intended to act as the sequel to Might and Magic V: Darkside of Xeen, but that role was later taken by Might and Magic VI: The Mandate of Heaven. Hope that the game could be created was one of the reasons Jon Van Caneghem decided to sell New World Computing to The 3DO Company. He attempted to spearhead the project in 1996, and design and development work was commenced until the project's cancellation in 1997-98. According to Van Caneghem, it was withdrawn when 3DO's executives discovered they could ship three PlayStation 2 games with the budget it would take to sustain the project. Details on the content of the game itself are extremely scarce, but some developers who worked on 3DO's Meridian 59 (which was to serve as the game's basis) list Might and Magic Online in their resumes and websites.
