From that day on, it was called Ha'San Mien, Sanctuary from the Waves." ―Codex of Ages, The Tempestuous Seas When the Great Disaster came around, much of the continent of Galaria did indeed sink under the sea. The common connotation was, though, that the entire continent was destroyed. After the said destruction, the seas became the primary source of 'malevolence' for the humans and in truth, the new civilization thriving on the isles that comprise Galaria lives in fear of the water. Only Ha'San Mien is noteworthy among the various settlements, but one thing is common, all the settlements are ringed by high walls. Human civilization has changed dramatically from its time of kings and queens and courtly romances. Every aspect of politics is now under the wing of religion. The belief in the Great Ancestors has long since been waxxed from the human minds. There is a new Pantheon of Gods and Goddesses that the humans believe in, primarily Shara'hsbin, the God of Prophecy and Music. It was said that Shara'hsbin once sent an oracle down to the humans and saved them from the oncoming forces of Sabra'no'a, the Dark God of the seas. Due to this system of belief, all objects that come from the sea are supposed to be destroyed. Apparently, fish are supposed to be eaten, after all, the farmlands outside of Ha'san Mien barely support the city. No one is now allowed at all near the sea and anyone seen would be put under a rigorous cycle of magical bombardment to erase any memory of the sea other than that which was taught by the priests. If anyone balks at this treatment, they are immediately, but discreetly killed. Ha'san Mien is often the center of religious controversy, but its inhabitants are always in jubilant upheaval. Festivals run rampant in the streets and the center of the revelry is the temple of Shara'hsbin where revelers feast and drink through the night. They celebrate most often during the full moons when the tide comes in higher than usual and they think that the jubilation would scare Sabra'no'a away.
