From the Wikipedia page [1] Hayes (from 1930 Hayes and Harlington) was a local government district in west Middlesex, from 1904 to 1965. It was originally created in 1904 as an urban district, Hayes Urban District, covering the Hayes parish transferred from Uxbridge Rural District. In 1930 it acquired the parishes of Cranford and Harlington from the disbanded Staines Rural District and at the same time, its name was changed to Hayes and Harlington Urban District.
