Kar'tal is a Death Knight of the Third generation, raised as one of the Lich King's puppets to draw out Tirion Fordring along with the other Knights of the Ebon Blade. However the undead orc does not have a real name. He was nicknamed 'Kar'tal' after one of the first Death Knights of the 'Old Horde' named Kar'tel, by one of the Necromancers who studied Orcish lore. Unable to remember, and in the beginning not able to care, Kartal took said nickname and fought for the Scourge, slaying many humans and fighting the Scarlet Crusade. After the battle for Hope's Chapel, some of Kartal's memory returned, remembering he spend time on the Orcish homeworld of Dreanor, now known as Outland. Upon arrival Kar'tal helped the settlement of Thrallmar against the forces of the Burning Legion, staying there untill his next clue came. After aiding the Horde expedition, he recieved word that some of the necromancers of the ebon Hold, that were still loyal to the Scourge, fled to the Ghostlands, including one Necromancer that raised him personally. He immdiatly left Thrallmar and followed the Necromancer's trail.
