  • Hillerød Iron Foundry was acquired by Peder Nielsen (later Nordsten (Northern Stone)), who had a small factory in Lynge and moved production to Hillerød in 1877. The factory specialised in threshing machines and drills which were exported worldwide. At the founder's death in 1918 the factory was taken over by his son, a factory owner, civil engineer Milton Nordsten (21st May 1883 - 16th September 1968). Nordsten fabricated threshers, straw presses radsåmaskinerne " Ceres " and " Demeter ", bredsåmaskiner used as a fertilizer, as well as Steno Mills and Cambridge Rollers . Nordsten's factory was the biggest Danish agricultural engineering concern and has obtained the 'Grand Prix' medal at the World Exhibition in Paris in 1937 and Brussels in 1910 and 1935. The factory has exported machines to all parts of the world. Nordsten foundry supplied, along with mechanical goods for their own agricultural machinery, substantial quantities of castings as well as a lot of articles as special cargo.
