Biography
| - Richard White is a former NASCAR driver from Escondido, CA. He competed in twelve Sprint Cup Series events in his career, earning two top-tens.
White's debut came during the 1973 season, when he competed at Riverside. It was a very impressive run for the driver, starting 24th and completing all but ten laps in the race to record an eighth place finish. He was even more outstanding when he returned to the track for the June race, completing all but five laps to record a career-best 6th place finish.
White's next run came during the 1974 season opener, not surprisingly happening at Riverside. Starting 28th in the field of thirty-four, White saw his hopes for another top-ten dashed by a late rear end gear failure. He finished 19th instead.
White's lone 1975 start also came at Riverside. It was essentially a disappointing repeat of the year before for White. He was slowly running his way into contention for a top-ten finish late in the race before a blown engine dashed his hopes and dumped him to 19th.
White did not return to the sport until the 1977, electing to compete in two West Coast events. Again, it started at Riverside. This time, White fell out of competition early in the race and could never recovered, showing 22nd. He fared about the same in his first trip to Ontario, finishing far behind the leaders in 25th.
Undeterred, White stepped his plans up to a three-race schedule during the 1978 season, racing at all three of the Winston West Series-Winston Cup Series combination races. He improved his results from the previous year, staying in respectable contention at both Riverside races to finish 24th and 19th. He was even better at Ontario, nearing a top-ten finish late in the race before engine issues left White 18th.
White's final three races came during the 1979 season, when he finished a career-high 54th in points. Despite running the same three events he had run the year before, White struggled. A blown engine early in the Riverside event left him 29th. He was able to recover to a 16th place finish at Riverside in June, but ended his career with a struggling 30th place showing at Onatrio.

White is a 1971 graduate of Bethel Park High School. At Disney, he is most famous for voicing the character of Gaston from the Beauty and the Beast franchise. In a 1991 interview with Newsweek promoting the film, White said that he based Gaston on overconfident jocks he had seen during his teenage years and believed that "had Gaston made it to 30, he would have been twice-divorced with possible hypertension problems". He was also considered for the role of Governor Ratcliffe in Pocahontas, but the producers realized that viewers would hear his voice and think of Gaston. David Ogden Stiers (who, coincidentally, was one of White's co-stars from Beauty and the Beast) was cast as the voice of Ratcliffe instead.
