  • Creature research is a gameplay feature in Dragon Age: Inquisition where the Inquisitor can gain advantages in battle against certain types of creatures by looting specific creature items from the creature corpses and turning them in at a research table. The feature is introduced to the player during the quest Know Thy Enemy in Haven. Once three of the same creature research item are deposited at the research table, the Inquisitor will be granted a permanent damage bonus to that type of creature. Further, the Inquisitor will be granted 406 XP and 150 Influence for each creature type that is fully researched. The Enhanced Studies Inquisition perk increases the bonus further, to a total of 1006 XP and 375 Influence, and applies retroactively. The Inquisitor can see if a bonus has been granted in the Codex: Creatures menu. At the bottom of the codex the increased damage will be confirmed and two diamonds will be highlighted to indicate same (see Gallery). Research progress can also be seen in the same menu, as the codex will display a bar at the bottom of the tarot card indicating how much research has been carried out (also shown in the Gallery). There are a total of 7 creature categories that can be researched: Beasts, Humanoids, Undead, Red Templars, Darkspawn, Demons, and Dragons.
