| - As a young Jedi, Revan was considered to be an extraordinary student by his many teachers. He also exhibited a great deal of charisma; this trait allowed him to gain support as he argued for Jedi intervention when the Mandalorians attacked the Galactic Republic in 3,928 BrS. When the Jedi Council refused to take part in the war, and sought to arrest Revan and his followers, he created the Revanchists, a group of organized Jedi under his command, dedicated to defending the Republic from the Mandalorian threat. Under the leadership of Revan, who had become renowned as The Revanchist, the Republic turned the tide of the war, and drove the Mandalorians to the edge of Republic space, where Mandalore the Ultimate, leader of the Mandalorians, was slain by Revan, himself, in a battle that saw the destruction of Malachor V and the deaths of many Republic soldiers, Jedi, and Mandalorians. After the battle, Revan stripped the warrior race of the Mandalore's Mask, preventing them from choosing a new leader; this dealt the Mandalorians a blow from which they would never recover. Although Revan was hailed as a hero for his victory, he suddenly disappeared from known space, claiming to be hunting down the last of the Mandalorian remnants—this was a lie. Revan had, at this point, fallen to the dark side, and had ordered Malachor's destruction to eliminate those who would oppose his plan to unite the galaxy—by force—against an ancient threat, which he had discovered hints of, on Malachor's surface, a year prior. On the planet of Drummond Kaas, in the unknown regions, Revan discovered the True Sith Empire, which was comprised of the descendants of those who survived the Great Hyperspace War. After pretending to give his allegiance to the Sith Emperor, Revan uncovered four Star Maps, which led to the Star Forge, an ancient superweapon of the Infinite Empire, a civilization that had been destroyed, long ago—over ten millenia prior. With the Space Station under his control, Revan created a massive armada of ships, and returned to Republic space. With his empire established, Darth Revan initiated the Jedi Civil War, a bloody conflict that held clout over the galaxy for years to come. However, in the war's second year, Revan was betrayed by his former best friend and apprentice, Darth Malak, and captured by the Jedi. His mind broken, his memories buried, and soon thought killed by the galaxy–at–large, Revan's life was saved by Bastila Shan, the leader of the strike team sent to capture him; this act created a Force bond between them. Unable or unwilling to bring back their captive's true self, but needing the knowledge scattered within his mind, the Jedi Council used the Force to rebuild Revan with a new identity—one loyal to the Republic. Nearly a year later, Revan, still unaware of his dark past, rescued the captive Shan alongside Commander Carth Onasi and an diverse band of comrades on Taris. When they heard of Revan's actions, the Jedi Council elected to re-train him. Rediscovering his former talents, and tasked with uncovering the source of Malak's colossal fleet, Revan and his companions defeated all adversaries and obstacles that faced them, as he and Shan were guided by shared "visions"–in truth Revan's own memories–to the Star Maps on Tatooine, Kashyyyk, Manaan, and Korriban. In the midst of this journey, the group was captured by Admiral Saul Karath, commander of the Sith fleet, and incarcerated aboard the Leviathan, Karath's flagship. Although Revan and his friends were able to escape, killing Karath along the way, Darth Malak came face to face his former Master, unveiled his true identity, and recaptured Shan. Despite losing Shan, Revan and his colleagues successfully ascertained the location of the final Star Map, as well as the position of the Star Forge. There, the Rakata System, Revan cast aside the darkness of his past, turned Shan–whom Malak had tortured into becoming his apprentice–back to the light and slew the reigning Dark Lord, fulfilling his role in the battle that brought the war he had begun to an end. The Jedi Council later bestowed upon Revan the title of Prodigal Knight of the Jedi Order, as a result of his redemption. Six years onward, after aiding in the defeat of the Sith Triumvirate, in the Dark Wars, and becoming a Jedi Master, Revan–with more of his memories returning to him–left the known galaxy behind on a lone quest against the true Sith Empire. As of 3,606 BrS, he was thought to have never returned. In 965 BrS, Darth Bane would found his new Sith Order based on the teachings contained within Revan's holocron, which he found on Lehon.
