Ash Township is a civil township in northeastern Monroe County, Michigan along the border of Wayne County. It is bound to the east by the Berlin Charter Township, to the south by Frenchtown Charter Township, and to the west by Exeter Township. Within the west-central area of the township is the village of Carleton. The population was 7,610 during the 2000 census. Bisecting the township is Interstate 275; additionally, U.S. Highway 24 (locally known as Telegraph Road) traverses from the southern boundary northeastward, connecting Monroe and Flat Rock.
