Warriors: Legends of Troy is a distant spin-off of the Dynasty Warriors line of games produced by Koei-Temco, set during the Trojan War. The game may feel like another entry in the Hack And Slash department, but its storyline and character decor shine thoroughly.

Its setting is the Ten Year Trojan War; The Iliad is the game's main narrative base though mythological information from other sources is included. The primarily Canadian team stated that it was made to appeal to Western players who don't like the Three Kingdoms setting from Dynasty Warriors. They later specified that they wanted to create a European game to appeal to Western audiences while invigorating the hack-and-slash system found in previous Warriors games.

The primarily Canadian team stated that it was made to appeal to Western players who don't like the Three Kingdoms setting from Dynasty Warriors. They later specified that they wanted to create a European game to appeal to Western audiences while invigorating the hack-and-slash system found in previous Warriors games. Akihiro Suzuki stated that he supports their ideas, but he has expressed concerns that the Canadian staff will lose the Warriors image. He wanted an option to turn off the gore -even though the Canadian team took great pains in simulating it. This is likely tied with his plans for the Japanese release, in which he wants to avoid a Cero Z rating (age 18 over only due to explicit content) and aim for a D rating (age 17 over only with mature content). He notes that the supervision of the cutscenes for the game were done by developers of a famous Canadian TV drama, thus assuring the quality and sequencing of the story scenes. The game was made using SpeedTree software. Its Japanese counterpart is completely voiced in Japanese and retains most of the violence featured in the original release.
