The IHC Auto Buggy was International Harvester's first entry in the automotive field. Introduced in late 1906, the Auto Buggy was available in a 2-passenger version with a single seat and a small cargo box behind or with a rear seat for more passengers. Large diameter wheels (40 inches in front, 44 inches in back) gave good ground clearance for traversing the deeply rutted roads of the day. The simple machine was rugged and reliable and could be maintained and repaired by the owner. If more service was needed, International Harvester had farm equipment dealers nearly everywhere. 1907 sales literature described it as "A Thoroughly Reliable Common-Sense Machine". After the first 100 Auto Buggies were completed in Chicago, production was shifted to International’s new Akron, Ohio factory, bui
