Abschneiden von Gliedern um die Ausbreitung der Infektion zu verhindern.Ich wusste von dieser Praxis, aber ich habe den Spitznamen noch nie gehört, sagte McCoy.Grausig. - Moment. sagte McCoy, leicht undeutlich. Sie haben menschliche Angehörige?Wie ich schon früher angedeutet habe, sagte Spock. - How’s Gary? I said. Recovering, McCoy said. I was able to clean out all the poison in his arm and reattach it. That poison was naturally occurring on the planet, but it had been weaponized. It was particularly malicious. Another few seconds would’ve been too late.Good job, Sawbones.What? I was surprised that McCoy had never heard this piece of ancient Earth slang.It’s what they called surgeons in the Old West, I said. Often men of your profession only had one option to cure their patients. Cutting off limbs to prevent the spread of infection.I knew about the practice; never heard that nickname, McCoy said.Gruesome. Please don’t use it again.He probably regretted saying that.
- There was no coffee on Vulcan. The second day there, that was the least of my troubles, but I really wanted a cup of coffee. The Vulcans had strict rules about chemical stimulants, so none of their food replicators were programmed for it. Scotty found something on the Klingon ship called raktajino, but it really wasn’t what I wanted. There was also no alcohol, which I thought was also going to be a problem.
- McCoy asked me what I was going to do. I was 43, there was plenty I could still do. I was going to start by taking over my uncle’s farm. He scoffed at the prospect.
You’re not going to be happy on a farm.What are you talking about? I grew up on a farm, remember?No you didn’t, he said. You grew up in outer space. I was there. I laughed, but it was a little joyless.
- This Eugenio was obviously was obviously using this film to say something about religion, Chekov said. The Enterprise went on a mission to the center of the Galaxy to find God.Thats not possible, Spock said. The center of the Galaxy is a black hole.I thought you are going to say, McCoy said, there's no such thing as God.I have no evidence on the subject. Spock said, then brought up the question of whether this constituted a violation of the Prime Directive.Its just a movie, Spock McCoy said, I doubt it will come to anythingI hope McCoy was right.
