Archibald Albert McDonald Gordon (1864 - 7 December 1949) was a politician in the Stoke Newington area. Born in Clerkenwell, in 1886 he married Miriam Morgan Hogg. By 1891 he was a type-founder and living in Stoke Newington. By 1901 he was working as an insurance agent. In 1922 he was elected to Stoke Newington Borough Council, remaining a member until 1946. Gordon was Mayor of Stoke Newington 1923-24, 1934, 1941-45. He was awarded the OBE in the 1944 New Year's honours. He also sat on the London County Council as a Municipal Reform Party councillor representing Stoke Newington from 1922-37.
