  • Swarm (むしのしらせ Bug's Foreboding) is an ability introduced in Generation III. The Pokémon that have this ability are all bug-types.
  • The Swarm were a hostile and territorial humanoid race in the Delta Quadrant encountered by the USS Voyager in 2373. Not much was known about them, except that when ships went into their space either they disappeared or came back with dead crews. Their language was really complex, consisting of rapid clicks. Translating with a universal translator proved extremely difficult. The Voyager crew could barely translate more than the rough meaning of a few phrases. The Swarm had shuttlecraft-sized ships that worked together in large groups to disable bigger ships. They did this by swarming the bigger ship, landing on the hull, draining power from it, and finally transporting a boarding party aboard. (VOY episode: "The Swarm")

  • Natural Swarms of various creatures occur throughout the Known World, although what triggers them is not known. Swarming insects do great damage to agriculture and severe plagues can mean starvation for thousands of people. In the Old World, Swarms of frogs, toads, or rats occasionally rampage through villages or towns, causing great consternation. The appearance of a Swarm is often attributed to "foul sorcery". In combat, the Swarm gets one bite attack for every 100 creatures (or 10,000 insects) and this may be made in any direction.
  • They can still be found on the docks of the Piscarilius House, often near the barrels of fresh fish used in gaining favor. They are harmless and will not attack the player, but will follow them within a certain range similar to the chair in Draynor manor.
  • redirect Swarm Missiles
  • SWARM, also called Mini Missiles or Micro Missiles, is a type of missile weapon and ranged attack skill that goes with it. It sprays homing missiles which randomly lock on to a target on the battlefield and home in. The SWARM missiles split up into numerous smaller missiles to strike targets in a wide area. The weapon is meant to be effective against personnel and vehicles on the ground and in the air, and is an effective countermeasure at least to anything with less armor than a medium vehicle and speed and altitude up to a helicopter. The "splitting distance" of the missiles can be programmed, so that it is even possible to detonate them all at maximum range, creating a greater explosive force for the primary projectile when it impacts.

  • In dire circumstances, a vampire queen may choose to "swarm" and leave her hive with her brood of vampires. An older queen must find and claim a new location within a matter of hours, or risk perishing due to over exposure to the sunlight. A newly made queen has months to settle into a hive. Swarming is particularly distressing to a queen, as the tether to her territory must be broken and reforged. (It may be noted, however, that roves like Lord Akeldama may swarm as he did in Blameless, but there is not the same urgency behind finding a new location as there is in a traditional hive, likely due to a fewer amount of vampires being relocated, and the tether being weaker).
  • Each planet encountered is a potential feast for the Swarm. When a Swarm Mother enters a solar system it will swing into an orbit and observe the planetary bodies for any that are suitable to host a colony. At this point a Swarm colony does not have anything resembling an intelligence - it is simply following a genetic mandate.

(TOS: "The Trouble with Tribbles" ; DS9: "Trials and Tribble-ations") In 2370, Natima Lang claimed her Cardassian shuttle had been caught in a meteor swarm, but the damage had actually been caused by weapons fire. • Swarms were formerly a random event. They randomly appeared and attacked players, hitting one or two hitpoints (10 or 20 life points) of damage. The swarm would hit infrequently however and was not a threat to most players. Players could not attack the swarm, instead they needed to walk or run away from it to stop the swarm from attacking. Swarms would "steal" a player from combat if they were encountered in a non-multicombat area. On 25 February 2009, the swarm was removed as a random event, and was added to Musa Point in its current form.

  • Swarm is a villain from the Marvel Comics, and has most often battled Spider-man. Swarm has also fought the Champions and Defenders from time to time. Fritz von Meyer was a former Nazi scientist who specialized in poisons and apiculture. While studying a hive of killer bees in the jungle, he noticed that the bees seemed more intelligent and passive than others of their species. He discovered that a nearby meteor bombardment had mutated the bees, and he built a device that would awaken the bees killer instincts and serve him. Instead, the bees attacked and killed Meyer. While dying, his consciousness went into the swarm of mutant bees, and he became a living embodiment of the swarm. However, it turned out that the Swarm did not need Meyer or even a human body to maintain its will and intell
  • Swarms are dense masses of fine, dimunitive, or tiny creatures (usually vermin) that would not be particularly dangerous in small groups, but can be terrible foes when gathered in sufficient numbers. Many different creatures can mass as swarms; bat swarms, rat swarms, centipede swarms, locust swarms, spiderling swarms, and spider swarms for example. A swarm of tiny creatures consists of about three hundred non-flying creatures or one thousand flying creatures. A swarm of diminutive creatures consists of roughly fifteen hundred non-flying creatures or five thousand flying creatures. A swarm of fine creatures consists of perhaps ten thousand creatures flying or not. Swarms of non-flying creatures include many more creatures than could normally fit in a ten foot square area, because creatures
