Paul Henning (September 16, 1911 - March 25, 2005) wrote one episodes of The Andy Griffith Show. He also wrote episodes of the TV series "The Dennis Day Show", "The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show", "The Real McCoys", "The Bob Cummings Show", (two Emmy Award nominations) "Petticoat Junction" and "The Beverly Hillbillies" (for which he received an Emmy nomination and wrote the theme song, "The Ballad of Jed Clampett"). He co-wrote the screenplays for the films Lover Come Back, for which he received an Academy Award nomination, and Bedtime Story from 1964, which was re-written in to the 1988 film Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.
