  • Multimedia artist Paul Guinan started out at First Comics, retouching the first manga translation published in the U.S., Lone Wolf and Cub. While at First, he co-created Cargonauts, a precursor to Firefly. Paul also co-created Chronos for DC and was lead background artist on the animated series Stan Lee's Stripperella. In the comics field Guinan often works alongside his wife, writer/editor Anina Bennett, and the duo collaborated on the Aliens story Aliens: Advent/Terminus. Guinan was also, arguably, the main or at least most consistent creator involved with the ambitious Aliens: Colonial Marines series that ran from 1993-1994, which eventually saw a number of creative team shifts, delays and an eventually truncated series run. Still, Guinan's contributions to the story remain some of the most vivid and enjoyable aspects of the work, particularly co-illustration of the first three issues. With his wife he created the groundbreaking science fiction series Heartbreakers. Paul's art for their graphic novel Heartbreakers Meet Boilerplate was nominated for an Eisner Award. Their most recent collaboration, Boilerplate: History's Mechanical Marvel, is a unique illustrated hardcover that's been optioned by producer J. J. Abrams.
