Pod Plants are an enemy found in the video-game "Zombies Ate My Neighbors" and could have been inspired by countless vegetation-themed monsters in fiction such as Audrey II or the Triffids, and could also have been inspired (at least in name) by the Pod People. Pod Plants are a threat on several levels as they spawn many spikey weeds wherever they grow, creating obstacles that can only be overcome with the aid of a lawnmower. Secondly, they can fire blobs of harmful energy at a hero who ventures too near.

Pod Plants are a threat on several levels as they spawn many spikey weeds wherever they grow, creating obstacles that can only be overcome with the aid of a lawnmower. Secondly, they can fire blobs of harmful energy at a hero who ventures too near. Luckily, Pod Plants are also immobile so are incapable of attacking players unless they get too near and appear to be less intelligent than the other monsters, possibly working on an instinctual level rather than any higher intelligence.
