Created by veteran Gateworld posters, the Chill Room was a spin-off thread from The GateWorld Cantina, which was the result of constant arguments between various members of the Cantina and a small group of outsiders who wanted in. Mapp wouldn't allow it, since it appeared that the group wanted nothing more than to change the Cantina into some twisted place where they could roleplay their fantasy romance. Since they were not welcome in the Cantina, they created the Chill Room as a means to do this, and so most of the fifty pages that make up the thread are basically two forum members roleplaying in a romantic story.

Since the RPing apparently moved onto real life, the Chill Room died out and became lost in the darkness of Off Topic, like many other Cantina spin-offs. The Cantina itself, however, is still going strong.
