Waryk himself was unable to read and write, but dreamed of being able to one day, leading his cohorts to tease him for "dreaming above his station". He was significantly kinder and gentler towards the orcs than other guards.

Waryk had evidently seen Thrall's gladiator duels, as he thought Thrall looked familiar, but was unable to recall where he had seen him before.
