Get Info is a menu command in the Finder. When chosen from the File menu, a new window appears, with information on the selected item. Get Info has been a true gem on the Mac OS. It is a direct descendant from the System 1 original, and although was cripepd or altered somewhat with Mac OS X 10.0 and Mac OS X 10.1 (as the Inspector floating palette), it resumed its original shape and form as the Get Info window, beginning with Mac OS X 10.2 "Jaguar".
