Delorme has in the past played in the NHL, for the Colorado Rockies and the Vancouver Canucks. He played junior for the Western Hockey League's Swift Current Broncos and Lethbridge Broncos where he showed himself as a tough player who could put the puck into the net. He was selected 56th overall by the Kansas City Scouts in the 1975 NHL Amateur Draft. In the middle of the 1975-76 season, he left the Broncos to turn pro with the Denver Spurs of the World Hockey Association. The team folded mid-season as the Ottawa Civics and he finished the season with the minor pro Tucson Mavericks.
