Leaving school very young she had to earn money, because her mother could manage alone. In 1932 Luise married Harold Pope. The couple had four children (3 girls, 1 boy). They later were divorced. "Al" Kenyon was thereafter her friend. Luise Kink-Pope worked all the time, even into her eighties. She fought against tuberculosis, arthritis and breast cancer. She died on 25 August 1992 from lung cancer leaving her friend Al Kenyon, four children, 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was buried beside her mother at Sunnyside-cemetery, Milwaukee.
