He asked “Why would Darth Xum capture your officers, Malkus?” Kaiser Malkus then told Good Vader “The USS Defiant was initially designed by Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: First Contact art illustrator Jim Martin with contributions from visual effects supervisor Gary Hutzel and modelmaker Tony Meininger. The Defiant's addition to DS9 was intended to solve the problem of cramped runabout sets according to statements by Robert-Hewitt Wolfe. Original designs called for a "beefed-up" runabout-type ship, but this gave way to a full-fledged starship design, initially called Valiant. This name was dropped out of fear that it would conflict with Star Trek: Voyager and its titular starship, also beginning with a "V". For a brief time it was considered to retain Valiant as the name of the class, but dialog in "The Search" and the ship's dedication plaque firmly establish the Defiant as the pathfinder. 5 of my officers tried to protest this, but Darth Xum captured them. They are now being held prisoner. Good Vader, you must rescue my 5 officers and bring them back to me.” Good Vader said “As you wish!” So Good Vader took the ISS Thunderbird to Tionus, where the 5 members of Malkus’ crew were being held. Good Vader beamed down to the planet and infiltrated the prison facility. He rescued the 5 members of Malkus’ crew. Good Vader then confronted Darth Xum. A lightsaber battle then ensued. Good Vader battled Darth Xum. Good Vader killed Darth Xum. Good Vader then beamed back to the ISS Thunderbird with the 5 members of Malkus’ crew. The ISS Thunderbird then rendezvoused with Kaiser Malkus’ flagship. Good Vader beamed over to Malkus’ flagship with the 5 members of Malkus’ crew. Kaiser Malkus was grateful to have his 5 crew members back. Kaiser Malkus thanked Good Vader for his help. The evil Emperor Bad Vader was furious. He vowed revenge on Good Vader.
