The Order of the Blue Knights of the Virgin Mary is a student religious Military_order established as a response to the transition period from the full program of the Citizen's Army Training (CAT) at Santa Maria Catholic School. In a number of years it has evolved into a special service club of the new Ateneo de Iloilo, incorporating the ideas of Christian chivalry, military discipline, and the core values of Ignatian education so deeply ingrained in the Ateneo.

| - The Order of the Blue Knights of the Virgin Mary is a student religious Military_order established as a response to the transition period from the full program of the Citizen's Army Training (CAT) at Santa Maria Catholic School. In a number of years it has evolved into a special service club of the new Ateneo de Iloilo, incorporating the ideas of Christian chivalry, military discipline, and the core values of Ignatian education so deeply ingrained in the Ateneo. Holistic education considers many facets of learning, including the Military as a symbol of the country. The Blue Knights serve as the link to that symbol for at the Ateneo de Iloilo. It is a reminder to the students of the ideals of self-sacrifice and service in the defense of one's country, a tenet in the old tradition of schools run by the Jesuits, who are themselves organized by Ignatius of Loyola after the system of military units under one Superior who is called the General of the Society of Jesus. It has been necessary to rethink the nature and structure of the organization to accommodate the new essence of what the Blue Knights are in the Ateneo de Iloilo.
