Mordechaj Tenenbaum ( מרדכי טענענבוים) (born 1916 in Warsaw - 20 August 1943 in Białystok, Poland) was a member of the Żydowska Organizacja Bojowa (Jewish Fighting Organization) and a leader of the Białystok Ghetto Uprising. Together with Daniel Moszkowicz he led the uprising in the Białystok Ghetto. Tenenbaum and Moszkowicz believed to have committed suicide when their bunker was surrounded by German troops. After the war to honor Tenenbaum a square in Białystok was renamed after him.

  • Mordechaj Tenenbaum ( מרדכי טענענבוים) (born 1916 in Warsaw - 20 August 1943 in Białystok, Poland) was a member of the Żydowska Organizacja Bojowa (Jewish Fighting Organization) and a leader of the Białystok Ghetto Uprising. Tanenbaum studied at the Warsaw University. Since 1935 he was member of the Jewish Socialist Youth organization "Frajhajt" (part of Poale Zion). After the outbreak of World War II and German occupation of Poland Tenenbaum became a member of the Anti-Fascist Bloc. He organized the resistance against the Germans in Wilno and Warsaw. As member of the Żydowska Organizacja Bojowa he was sent in 1943 to Białystok to bolster the resistance. Together with Daniel Moszkowicz he led the uprising in the Białystok Ghetto. Tenenbaum and Moszkowicz believed to have committed suicide when their bunker was surrounded by German troops. After the war to honor Tenenbaum a square in Białystok was renamed after him.
