His parents allowed him to be taken from his home planet of Gerrard V as an infant. When he was twelve years old, the Mhingxin Jedi Master Roreod chose him to be his Padawan. His Master primarily taught him Form IV lightsaber combat. Shahmzar was Knighted at the age of twenty-three and took young Ac'churo Valnuon as an apprentice. Several years later, Shahmzar and Ac'churo attempted to pacify the Separatist Crisis. When the negotiations failed, they fought in the Clone Wars with the 31st Legion. Unlike most Jedi pilots, he preferred flying heavy assault starfighters rather than light interceptors. He often had Ac'churo serve as his copilot. Unfortunately for Shahmzar, Ac'churo was killed during the war. He lost the chance to be made a Jedi Master by training a Padawan to Knighthood, and more importantly to him, he lost a close friend. After his apprentice's death, Shahmzar chose to stay by his former Master's side while leading campaigns, like Generals Kenobi and Skywalker. The Knight and his Master were at a small forward outpost on a battlefield planet when Order 66 was issued. The clone troopers nearby focused on taking out Master Roreod first, as they saw him as a greater threat. The clones succeeded in killing Shahmzar's master, but when he witnessed Roreod being struck down, Shahmzar quickly fled to his nearby Aggressive ReConnaissance-170 starfighter. He used the starfighter to escape with his loyal astromech droid, R3-D10. Shahmzar went into hiding on the backwater planet of Antiquity. A few days after settling on the planet, he experienced his only Force Vision. It was vague, but he believed it was telling of the return of the Jedi. He somehow knew that he would not join this new Order, but that he must pass on his training to help it rise. Shahmzar soon met a youth by the name of Gir Kagn, in whom he immediately noticed Force-sensitivity. Hence, he took Gir as his secret student, teaching him the Jedi ways and the Ataru fighting style. The hidden Jedi was eventually found by the Emperor's agents and assassinated. However, the training of his student was kept a secret. Although he had never officially completely trained a Padawan and risen to the rank of Master, as he died Shahmzar considered Gir's training complete.
