The Pangolin (not to be confused with the panda bear or penguin) is a race of small to medium-sized rodents which lack teeth and must rely on a long sticky tongue to catch the ants, termites and gerbils which make up its natural diet. While this makes it similar to the anteater, the pangolin is in fact different, being that it is covered in hundreds of scales.

| - Pangolin is a former acolyte, current Offbeats member and former disciple of Dormammu.
Early life
Maxmillion "Max" Greere was born on a small Hawaiian island to a laid back family. Like them he also grew up to be laid back and thought himself as something of a ladies man. However this all came to a halt after his mutant abilities came into effect. He grew scales that started at the ridge of his nose and grew all along his back and he grew claws, a tail and a long frog-like tongue. Disgusted by his new appearance the townsfolk drove him away. Despite this he never lost his laid back attitude. Eventually he was discovered by Magneto's Acolytes and was given the opportunity to fit in. Having no where else to go he decided to join them.
An Acolyte
Despite becoming an Acolyte Pangolin strongly disagreed with their principles and would never join them on missions, instead training himself to be stronger using the gym located in asteroid M. Eventually however he found a group of Acolytes who, like him realized that Magneto's beliefs were to harsh and they offered him a place in their team. Thrilled he decided to join.
Becoming an Offbeat
After joining the new team, which was then on called the Offbeats, he attached himself to Sparky who he saw as an older brother figure. Sparky however was less than thrilled at having “A freaky little optimist" clinging by his side. Despite this Pangolin never got the hint and continued to annoy Sparky to no end. After the team decided to gain credibility by defeating the Avengers Pangolin found himself fighting Black widow and continuously began hitting on her shortly after the fight started much to her annoyance. He was defeated by her and Sparky who "Grew tired of that idiot's incessant talking!" Like the rest of the team he was sent to the Vault but later broke out. He was the one who suggested that they become a heroic group. However later he found himself being hunted by Kraven the hunter. Despite putting up a good fight he was defeated and killed by him. Sparky however in a blind rage horribly scarred Kraven's face with a blast of his lightning abilities.
Dormammu's disciple
However shortly after his death he was resurrected by Dormammu except his regular scales had been replace by incredibly hard magic repelling scales, he could breath Hellfire and his tongue could be used to siphon of life energy. Dormammu had brought him back on the condition that he would serve him. Pangolin complied through a combination of torture and threats to his friends and during his time as Dormammu's disciple he grew to be more serious. However after they became aware of his presence, the Offbeats and Dr. Strange united to free him from Dormammu's influence. After a lengthy battle against him Dormammu was forced to relinquish his control over Pangolin to restore himself. And thus Pangolin re-joined the Offbeats, although he is still mostly serious his old personality occasionally resurfaces from time to time .

You cannot kill creatures virtually ingame in HKO anymore but can only put them to sleep for a while.
