The August 2008 General Election took place on 21/08/2008 following the dissolution of parliament at the end of the 3rd Pokemaniac John Government. Voters from across Ostentia took part in the electoral process, voting for both a prime ministerial candidate and a parliamentary candidate. This was the first election to see MPs elected by contingent voting, a system which is believed to favour minor parties. The election saw the F&V=P Party, the party of Prime Minister Pokemaniac John, lose a large number of its seats while the right wing Ostentian Democrat Party unexpectedly managed to gain a plurality in the House of Commons, with Commoncold0 becoming Prime Minister.
