The Allied Forces were worried that the Rebels might use it to launch SLBM attacks and sent Phoenix to sink the submarine before it could launch any SLBMs. The ravine was guarded by Apache helicopters and required precise handling as the enemy radar was set up over the top of the ravine, at a height of 1000 metres, meaning Phoenix had to stay within the ravine walls to avoid alerting the Rebels and activating their anti-aircraft missile system. When Phoenix arrived at the Fensalir's dock, the rebels were not prepared for this as they "... never expected a fighter pilot to fly through the ravine." Subsequently, Phoenix sunk the Fensalir along with its arsenal of SLBMs and regular missiles. Its sister ship, the Folkvangr , was discovered later attempting to launch its own SLBM and destroy Saint Ark after the Allied Forces liberated it in Kingpin. For more details about the Folkvangr's attack on Saint Ark, see Last Resort.
