Captain Strathmore was apparently a naval officer who visited Collinsport in the year 1897. He briefly befriended a young woman named Sophie Baker and gave her a make-up compact as a gift. Sophie regarded him as a true "gentleman." The two soon parted ways, however, and Sophie never learned what became of him.
