It appears in the An Arabian Knight scenario of Saladin, where the player must get a soldier to the mosque in Cairo, so that the Egyptians will change their diplomatic stance with him to ally. The mosque is actually surrounded by walls and a gate, therefore the player's unit actually only need to get to the gate (where there is a Monk outside). The player does not need to kill the monk even if he tries to convert the unit of the player, as once the player becomes allied with the Egyptians again, the monk can provide healing for the player.

In the Black Guards scenario of El Cid, Black Guard Navy (the yellow player) has a mosque somewhere in the middle of the map. When one of the player's unit reaches it, the Black Guard monks will request El Cid to meet them, and they will request El Cid to send a monk to convert the mosque. Redemption must be researched before the player can do so. Once the mosque is converted to the player's ownership, the monks will invite the player's monk to stay back so that the player will slowly get all the other Monastery technologies for free. (HP : 600).
