American Girl Magazine Plays were an inclusion in the American Girl Magazine and consisted of four plays, each based on four of the Historical Characters. The plays were original stories and similar to those included in the Theater Kits, but on a smaller one act scale. The pages were intended to be torn out from the magazines and then stapled together to make a sixteen-page script book. The first pages listed the characters (five to eight characters, with some able to be played by a single actor in a dual role) and a list of items to make the set and props. The back cover included tips for players(actors) and how to put together the script book. Among the script are original illustrations.
