A cherry tree was planted in 1967 in memory of the victims of the nuclear bombing of Hiroshima. A generation later in 1995, a memorial to conscientious objectors was unveiled. The gardens also contain busts of the novelist Virginia Woolf and the surgeon Dame Louisa Aldrich-Blake. More information on the Wikipedia page [1]
