Yumi has also translated the work of major Japanese authors including Yoshimoto Banana and Yamada Eimi: in May 2006 her translation of three of Yamada's novellas (Bedtime Eyes 「ベッドタイム・アイズ」, The Piano Player's Fingers 「指の戯れ」 and Jesse 「ジェシーの背骨」) was published under the title "Bedtime Eyes" by St Martin's Press to critical acclaim. In business, Yumi Gunji is the co-founder and director of the UK company Biznis Cards, a unique corporate print solution which enables users to order printed stationery online in 50 languages, eliminating typo errors, preserving the companies' corporate ID and generating instant on-screen proofs. Living & working in Sydney for many years, she has also developed a keen interest in Australian wines and in January 2009 she founded BoozeMonkey -- a social network aimed at promoting Australian & New Zealand wines.
