Yumi has also translated the work of major Japanese authors including Yoshimoto Banana and Yamada Eimi: in May 2006 her translation of three of Yamada's novellas (Bedtime Eyes 「ベッドタイム･アイズ」, The Piano Player's Fingers 「指の戯れ」 and Jesse 「ジェシーの背骨」) was published under the title "Bedtime Eyes" by St Martin's Press to critical acclaim.
