It is clear she does not see her husband all too much since he spends more time at his factory than at home. She leads a fairly inconsequential role in the majority of the story, but within the last few chapters of the book, we find out a few secrets that Elvira has been keeping up her sleeve!

She killed Tamara!!!We will just say that she wanted to give her an extended nap. Elvira's plan was to get rid of Tamara by spiking her tea with sleeping pills and then put her on a train that would take her far away from Endwarden. She accidentally overdosed Tamara. She also felt responsible for Fabrizius' death and realized that all was lost. She commits suicide in the end.
