Avis Bunnage (born 22nd April 1923, died 4th October 1990) was a Lancashire born actress who played two roles on Coronation Street: Alice Burgess, sister of Harry Hewitt, in 1961 and then Edie Blundell in 1976. In addition she appeared in an episode of the Street spin-off Pardon the Expression in 1966. Her acting career spanned from the 1940s to the 1990s. Amongst her list of film credits are parts in The Krays and Ghandi. She also appeared in The L-Shaped Room a 1962 film that Patricia Phoenix was allowed to make in a break from her duties on the Street as Elsie Tanner.
