Probably one of the most well known cephalopods The giant squid is a deep-ocean dwelling Squid in the family Architeuthidae, represented by as many as eight species. Giant squid can grow huge: recent estimates put the maximum size at 13 metres (43 ft) for females and 10 metres (33 ft) for males, although 60-100 ft length is possible too. They are the second largest cephalopod on earth. Their sole predator is the sperm whale. Humboldt Squid Cuttlefish 'Colossal Squid' Japanese Flying Squid

They are the second largest cephalopod on earth. Their sole predator is the sperm whale. Humboldt Squid The Humboldt Squid, also known as the Jumbo Squid, Jumbo Flying Squid, or Diablo Rojo (Red Devil), is a large, aggressive predatory Squid found in the waters of the Humbolt current. Amazingly they have been known to attack humans but thankfully no deaths have been recorded. Some recent evidence suggests that these squids may grow to be 90 ft long. Cuttlefish The Cuttlefish: Cuttlefish are Marine animals of the order Cephalopoda class which includes Squid, Octopus, and Nautiluses. Despite there common name they are molluscs not fish. They are some of the most intelligent invertebrates. Like octopuses they have 8 arms. 'Colossal Squid' The Colossal Squid sometimes called the Antarctic or Giant Cranch Squid, is a huge cephalopod living in the Arctic and Antarctic. Some believe they are the largest squid species. The largest recorded specimen was captured by a New Zealand fishing boat off Antarctica. It was initially estimated to measure 10 m (33 ft) in length and weigh 450 kg (992 lb), but lengths of over 180 ft have been reported. They are the largest cephalopod on earth, and the largest mollusk on earth, their eyes alone can span over 30cm in diameter. Like the giant squid, only the sperm whale can hunt them. Japanese Flying Squid The Japanese Flying Squid or Japanese Common Squid, Todarodes pacificus, is a cephalopod. This animal lives in the northern Northern Pacific Ocean, in the area surrounding Japan, up the full coast of China up to Russia, then spreading across the the Bering Strait over towards the lower coast of Canada and the coast of Canada. They tend to cluster around the central region of Vietnam. This species is also fished around the world.
