The Alimbic Cannon is, as its name suggests, a cannon, created by the race of aliens known as the Alimbics. Its construction took many years, as it broke records for being the largest cannon in the universe. When its construction was finally finished, Xiphias accidentally pressed the button that would detonate it, causing the destruction of most of the planet's life and turning it into a stark wasteland full of volcanoes and such.

The Alimbic Cannon opens a portal to the Infinity Void, a hidden dimension where the Oubliette is situated. By activating the Alimbic Cannon, the Void is opened once again, making it possible for Samus Aran to reach the Oubliette and destroy the monster known as Gorea.

| - The ALIMBIC CANNON enabled us to open the INFINITY VOID and hide GOREA's prison within it. By locating the prison in an alternate dimension, we ensured that the prisoner would neither escape nor be released by accident.
- This device opened the INFINITY VOID to imprison GOREA. Reuniting eight OCTOLITHS will return power to this dormant machine.
- The ALIMBIC CANNON issues bursts of polarized antimatter beyond light speed at specified coordinates and frequency to open a dimensional rift known as the INFINITY VOID.
- After trapping GOREA in the SEAL SPHERE, we consigned it to a prison from which there could be no escape.
