- Treasure Boxes contain various items depending on the type of box. When you find one, hover your mouse over the box to check the level range to be sure it will provide a drop for you. Attacking a box will do only 1HP damage per attack, regardless of the skill you use. You can see a treasure box as a white dot on your radar map and can visually identify what type of box you have found by the way it appears.
- Treasure Boxes can only be found, using a Treasure Map, such as Old Treasure Map or Ornate Treasure Map. At the time a Treasure Map is used, there will be a limit of 5 minutes to reach the Treasure Box, and another 1 minute to open it. To open a treasure box, it has to be attacked and killed as a monster.
- Treasure Box (タカラバコくん, Takarabako-kun) is a Djungarian hamster. He makes an appearance in 'Searching for the Treasure!', where he turns out to be the 'treasure' the Djungarians were looking for.
- Mimicuties are not considered part of these Treasure Box variations as it is an enemy, yet some give off treasure if they are defeated.
- Treasure boxes come in a variety of forms, and require a certain Field-Skill to open. Earth-based containers, vehicles, and White Whale debris are opened with Mechanical skill. Native structures like insect nests, strange trees, and indigen dung require the Biological skill. Alien artifacts and wreckage are opened with the Archaeology skill. The party can also earn from treasure boxes, Battle Points, Class Points, Credits and Data Probes (the latter mostly on level 4 and 5 boxes).

Items can range from commonly used potions to powerful weaponry, rings and/or accessories. There is an achievement named 'Treasure Trove' which is given to players when they have collected every single item from the treasures boxes from all over the Lost Odyssey world. The game has provided a shortcut however, allowing players to purchase items found in areas that are no longer available at an auction house. (Purchasing items from the Auction House *DOES* count towards the Treasure Trove achievement.) Note: if a player misses an item in an area that can be revisited, it will not appear at the auction house.

Some Squad Missions consist of searching Treasure Boxes through Mira. Members of the Reclaimers Division receive more Division Points for recovering White Whale debris, and Reclaimer support may increase the items awarded from enemy treasure boxes.
