Before he could contact Admiral Gial Ackbar, the Maria was under attack by a squadron of Tie Bombers. Verrack was able to send a message to Ackbar about the Empire's movements and was killed. The destruction of the Maria was observed by Mox Slosin and Admiral Sysco onboard the Vengeance.
