Originally, Herubar Gûlar was a Dwarven encampment of Broadbeams who wandered north to Zarak-Dûm. Later, as the Dark lord invaded Eriador and the southern Trollshaws became a center of the Dark Worship, the Númenoreans built a fortification to watch over the terrain. With the founding of Arnor the fort became a manor for a family local Dúnadan Lords. With the Wars following the separatism of Rhudaur the castle was forsaken and fell into ruin. It became known as "Herubar Gûlar" or "Manor of the Sorcerer" to the locals. A hideout of Orcs and an Agent of the Witch-King known as Ar-Gûlar.
