Synopsis
  • Green Arrow boards a cargo plane with domestic terrorist Hyrax, who intends to loose a biological weapon called Mutajek 9-9 on the city of Metropolis. In mid-flight, one of Hyrax's men reveals himself to be NSA agent Ed Pinkwater. In the midst of arresting the terrorists, a firefight ensues in which all the terrorists die as does Pinkwater. Green Arrow ends up shot, with his hand stuck in a deadman's switch in the bomb containing the mutagen. As soon as he removes his hand, the bomb will detonate. Superman arrives on the scene. Elsewhere, beneath Washington, Connor Hawke and Eddie Fyers break into Blair House to confront the head of the NSA, Mr. Callendar. They sneak in, find Callendar and question him about the whereabouts of Connor's father, Oliver Queen. Along the way they pick up an ally, Camorouge. They arrive at the airfield just in time to see the plane containing Oliver and Hyrax leaving. On the plane, Superman goes over all the available options with Oliver. Oliver tells Superman to destroy the bomb and Oliver as well. Superman tells Oliver he sees one way out of this for Oliver, but it involves amputation. Oliver says he'd rather die and Superman tells Oliver the choice is not his.
quotation
  • I'm not giving up on him. I don't care if he's a jerk or a traitor or whatever. It's taken all this time to find him and I'm not giving up on my father.
