- The Guardian is a large and extremely aggressive alien monster that protects a puddle of time-water, indiscriminately and without provocation (it fights both Teggs and Frentos) attacking anyone who enters its territory, sometimes using the time-water on them. The creature resembles a giant, incredibly long red worm with multiple sets of claws, giant fangs, and stalk eyes. It appears to be immune to the liquid's effects itself - Teggs theorizes that it instinctively swims between cold and warm time-water to stay roughly the same age - or perhaps it is immortal and thus in no danger from the water's powers.
