Ichinoru Mura was a village of the Naishou Province which was supposedly cursed by a shugenja who died of cold after nobody gave him refuge during a harsh winter night. Legend claimed the shugenja's last words were “Since you value your village too much to help a stranger, you will never leave it again.” The village suffered under great and enduring misfortune and its inhabitants seemed unable to leave. People survived with rice from the few paddies within the town's borders, along with what fruits and vegetables they could grown near their homes. Any visitor were asked to leave before night, as sleeping in the village for even one night was enough to trigger the curse.
