A device that allows a MIDI signal to be sent to multiple devices at once. It makes it possible for more devices to be connected than what is practical via chaining devices using MIDI thru ports, and with less latency. A basic MIDI thru box is functionally equivelent to a Y-cable; whatever arrives at the input is sent out of all of the outputs. Some more sophisticated devices have the ability to filter certain channels or types of messages from certain output ports.
