Spreading is a type of plate boundary. Here, the two plates spread apart from each other - one moving one way, the other the opposite. Therefore, they are often called constructive boundaries, as they 'create' more space, which is eventually filled with magma. An example of this is under the Atlantic. This also happens in Iceland - thus Iceland is actually growing!
