| - "Ghara" is used as a term for
* the planet in the solar system where human life originated and most humans still live today,
* the super-state covering roughly 40% of that planet's habitable surface and
* the capital city of that state, where almost all of its citizens live. This page is concerned with the state and city of Ghara. For more information on the planet, please refer to the solar system's wiki entry. The city named Ghara is both the planet's and the Federation's capital. The Federation, originally named "The Democratic Federation of Ghara" was founded before the solar system's colonization started. It originally consisted of several Gharian states that started out as a monetary union, but eventually merged into one super-state called "Republic of Ghara" during the colonization of Femus. The name was fitting because the republic encompassed most nations on the planet, and people would soon use "Ghara" as a shortened form to refer to the Republic of Ghara. The City of Ghara originated when several cities of different sizes grew closer and closer to each other and infrastructure got to a point where traveling between them was just as fast as traveling within them. The first four that merged, which where later dubbed the Center, were named "City of Ghara" and declared the Federation's capital when it was first formed. As more and more neighboring cities were added to it due to their growth and advancements in infrastructure, the borders of the City of Ghara were widened again and again. Later, during the solar system colonization, people outside of Ghara would start referring to this area as "Ghara" (instead of "City of Ghara") because over half the planet's population lived there. As a result of these developments, anybody using the term "Ghara" might refer to the planet, the state, or the city, although people living on other planets often don't make the distinction to begin with, perceiving all three as the same entity.
