Synopsis
  • This issue details the last year of Jack Monroe's life. About one year ago, Jack was diagnosed by Dr. Jane Foster as deteriorating, due to his previous nano-manipulation coupled with the tainted super soldier serum in his body. He often hallucinates and this condition worsens with time. He also drinks to excess and begins seeing ordinary citizens as criminals, much as he did in the latter parts of the 1950's. Jack does not reveal his condition to any of his friends, including his old partner Steve Rogers. Instead, Jack moves from New York to Washington D.C., and eventually to Pittsburg. In his warped reality, he wants to save his young adopted daughter, Julia Winters, from evil drug pushers. The "drug pushers" are in reality selling ice-cream. On a quiet night outside of his favorite bar, Jack is assassinated by the Winter Soldier and unceremoniously dumped into the trunk of a car.
